PILLAR
PATCH is about ½ mile east of the Stake and is a small
but very unusual reef that has the largest colony of Pillar corals in the entire area.
These corals are reminiscent of desert cactus and stand several feet off the ocean floor.
Because of their shape, they are a favorite with underwater photographers. There are no
mooring buoys at this site and require the boater to be extra careful not to toss their
anchor onto this fragile coral. FLORIDA
